MSM Romania is growing
They say that the only constant in our lives is change and this has never been more relevant than in these recent times. Growing and evolving also means transitioning to something bigger, something new, something better.
After 10 years of executive education, 400 students and thousands of lives impacted, MSM Romania is ready for its new chapter. For us, this will be called Bucharest International School of Management (BISM). Our focus has always been on developing the local business ecosystem and now it’s time that our brand name reflected that as well.
BISM will continue to forge its strong relationship with MSM Netherlands for the Executive MBA and Master in Management programs, that remain the same. At the same time, we are also expanding to include new programs like 3 undergraduate degree, delivered with Abertay University UK, for which we are now actively recruiting.
Now recruiting for 3 undergraduate programs
The 3 new programs (Business Administration, Digital Marketing with Business Administration and Accounting and Finance with Business Analytics) will be taught in English and offer a degree from Abertay University.
The new programs reflect in a better way the orientation towards developing the local business environment. The school will continue developing strong partnerships with local and international business, in order to adapt the curricula to current needs. Moreover, students from all programs are involved in real business projects, even during the studies.
Professor Liz Bacon, Deputy Vice-Chancellor at Abertay University said:
“We are delighted to be entering into this exciting partnership which sees Abertay become the first UK Business School to deliver undergraduate programmes in Romania.
Over the course of our relationship we will be sharing the academic expertise and teaching experience needed to prepare the next generation of business professionals in Bucharest.
At Abertay, we pride ourselves on preparing our students for the world of work and offering transformational opportunities to all who can benefit from them, and this core ethos will carry forward into the new partnership with Bucharest International School of Management as we deliver this high-quality suite of business, marketing and accounting & finance programmes overseas.
As part of our internationalisation process, we have designed excellent programmes that provide employability skills and knowledge of leading and managing organisations internationally and BISM has the facilities and the resources to deliver these programmes to the expected quality standards, providing our students excellent learning experience.”
What does the change mean for us?
We asked the school’s partners what this new chapter called Bucharest International School of Management (BISM) means for them. Here is what they said:
“I believe that change is good. While continuing to deliver programs in cooperation with our friends and partners in Maastricht, we enrich our offer with programs done in partnership with other universities.
After helping transform hundreds of managers (and guided by the same mission to create change agents for the Romanian business environment), we will soon impact the younger generations of future managers. And our new name better reflects this wider scope.”
Radu Atanasiu, Partner, Associate Dean for Academic Affairs & Lecturer of Thinking & Deciding in Business
“I think it is time to take pride in who we are. Yes, there was a time when just copying the Western model was a quality reference. But we have outgrown that model, we are integrating Western methods, curricula, lecturers and quality control with the best organizational, strategic and business understanding of local practitioners.
We are not merely delivering knowledge. We build knowledge as we build businesses and characters. For the next generation of business leaders in Romania and SE Europe. Ready to set new trends, not just to follow. ”
Sergiu Neguț, Partner & Associate Dean for Entrepreneurial Growth
“When we started delivering business programs in Romania, most of our lecturers were international. Over the years, we have attracted more local teachers, incorporating a regional outlook of business and we have seen how important this was for our students. Many programs could offer a global perspective, but our students have repeatedly appreciated the case studies and examples coming from the Romanian business landscape, where most of their businesses operate.
As we expand our offering to bachelor students as well, we will take this know-how and apply it to all our new programs. We also believe in continuously innovating and adapting the programs to the business leaders’ needs and local context – in other words, we practice what we preach. And it is time to make sure the entire Romanian business environment knows that we are a local school with international know-how, not the other way around.”
Dora Surugiu-Kocsolade, Founding Partner
“If the past 10 years have shown us anything is that we are confident and capable in adapting international programs to the local environment in a way that gives them more value. That enables both their personal and professional transformation.
We will continue working with international clients, but it’s also time to stand on our own feet and deliver quality business education to adults of all ages, under a brand that represents our strong connections to the local market.”
Adrian Stanciu, Founding partner & Associate Dean for Knowledge & Leadership
“We ambitiously pursue novel and impactful approaches to education and learning. And we do this without being anchored to traditions and expectations to which most westerns schools are. I believe that we are now more agile and better suited to serve the fast-evolving needs for practical learning.”
Andreas Antonopoulos, Partner & Lecturer of Entrepreneurship
