There are a lot of things I wish I had asked before I applied for university. It’s a hard choice, especially if you’re graduating from high school soon and you’re still wondering where to apply and what to do.
As our students learn from their Critical Thinking classes, you have to ask yourself questions to make sure that you make the best decision when it comes to your university years. In order to help with that, I’ve gathered all the questions our team has received about our undergraduate programs and the answers to them.
Let’s assume you still don’t know what suits you best. That you’re still thinking of studying abroad or in Romania, you’re not sure of the programs there are out there. In this case, you’re where you have to be. If you came across BISM’s undergraduate programs, but still have a few curiosities or if it’s the first time you hear about us, this article is for you. I’ll address some of them here, below. If you have more questions, you know where to find us (via email at [email protected] or WhatsApp at +40 758 726 608).
Q: What business programs do you offer and how long do they last?
A: The undergraduate programs that you can choose from are: Business Management, Digital Marketing and Business Management and Accounting and Finance with Business Analytics. All of them last 3 years and the classes take place on campus, in Bucharest.
Q: What degree will I graduate with?
A: You will graduate with a Business Management degree, with an international diploma from the UK! The diploma is issued by Abertay University from Scotland. Abertay University is located in the heart of Dundee, with roots going back to 1888. It has even recently been ranked No. 1 in the UK for Teaching Quality (Sunday Times Good University Guide 2021)!
The programs are run in partnership with Abertay University, following the same curriculum, which is why you will get to study in Romania and graduate with a UK degree.
Q: Why would I study in Romania and not in the UK? I have a hard time choosing.
A: I can help you with some facts! The same undergraduate program costs twice as much in a university from the UK. Besides that, the cost of living is way cheaper in Romania (as you probably have already guessed).
Q: If I can’t attend classes, do you have a virtual/long distance program option?
A: Learning from a distance or virtually is not an option at the moment, as our students don’t only attend theoretical classes, but they also have to take part in internships. Three internships contribute to your understanding of the concepts discussed in class and these are facilitated by the school, to ensure you get the most know-how out of them.
Q: What internships are you talking about? Are they in the curricula?
A: Internships are mandatory, which means that you will get credit for them. The same happens in the case of your preferred classes; each of them offers you some credit. Don’t worry, though, internships are arranged by the school in cool local companies.
Q: Let’s talk about the money: what’s the tax?
A: The annual tax is 7.800 EUR for each program. You can pay them in 2, maximum 3 installments. And I have great news for you! FINS, our partners, offer student loans depending on your needs. Check them out!
There are also 2 different types of scholarships our school offers for our undergraduate students. The first one is for outstanding candidates (500 EUR/year) and the second one is the Founders’ Scholarship (1000 EUR/year). When submitting the application form, you can opt for one of them!
Q: Do you have a tax exemption option?
A: We don’t have this option, but we do have different scholarships and special discounts! One of the scholarships you can apply for is the Founders’ Scholarship, that offers you 1.000 EUR off the fee. Here are more details on fees and all of our scholarships.
Q: Where is the school based at?
A: The school is based in Bucharest, on Bd. Dacia 99, in the heart of the city. That is also where the classes take place.
Q: We got it, we’ll study in Bucharest. But you said we’ll get our diploma from the UK. Are we going to study there as well?
A: Yes! You will study mainly in Bucharest, but you’ll also have an exchange period in Scotland, in our partner’s campus, Abertay University.Their campus is in Dundee, one of the safest cities to live in, according to a study applied in 2021. Lidl and Tesco or Lebanese, Thai and Mexican restaurants? In your exchange period, you will get to (re)try them all in a picturesque and international environment.
Q: What about the teachers? Who are they?
A: The BISM lecturers come from all over the world. More importantly, they are business professionals that teach you in class what they’ve applied in their companies a few days ago. Some of the lecturers you’ll learn from are Cristian Ignat (CEO Aggranda, founder Canopy), Sandra Jitianu (over 14 years of experience as a management consultant), Radu Atanasiu (angel investor, lecturer in Maastricht, Amsterdam and of course Romania) and so many more.
Q: What criteria is there for me to be admitted?
A: The most important is your motivation, followed by getting a minimum grade of 7.5 at the bac exam and having your graduation in the last 3 years.
Q: How can I apply?
A: Here are the admission steps:
- If you still haven’t taken your final exam in high school (meaning you’re still a student), you can submit the documents mentioned below. After that, you will have to provide the final exam diploma.
- If the high school exam diploma is available, you will submit these documents via email: the high school final exam diploma, an English certification test (if you don’t have one, you can let us know and take it on our campus) and a personal statement written in the UCAS format. Find a template here.
- After submitting the documents, you will have an interview with our school’s representative. Don’t be nervous, we just want to get to know you!
- After the interview, you will receive your letter of admission in about 2 weeks via email.
- Congrats, you’re an international student in Romania, at one of the most practical business degrees!
